Technology Solutions & Engagement Specialist

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)

Bachelor's Degree. Two [2] years of related experience in offering workshops/webinars. Experience designing workshops. Experience creating technical documentation that is used for knowledge management on websites and ticket systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced Degree. Additional years of related experience in consultations, knowledge management, empowering others to learn, and leading engagement sessions (Online and in person). Experience scheduling and coordinating literacy/development programs. Experience creating and editing both written and audio/ video recordings.

Brief Description:

The Technology Solutions & Engagement Specialist works closely with DoIT's Customer Support & Engagement team to assess the technology needs of constituents using university-wide technology and to create, lead, and promote a culture of continual learning and digital literacy.

• Research, design, develop and promote supported technologies to the campus via workshops, webinars, and support documentation for software utilized by the campus community. This software includes but is not limited to collaboration & communication suites, survey tools, academic systems (LMS), administrative systems (ERP, document management, purchasing). Engagement opportunities include in-person and webinars.

• In the performance of all job duties, at all times be responsible for delivering optimal customer service, protecting institutional data and privacy, and the excellent delivery of solutions and services by following divisional and University policies, procedures, and processes.

• Provide 2nd and 3rd-level consultative services for collaboration, administrative, and academic systems that the service desk is unable to assist with.

• Design, develop, revise, and publish technical documentation. Perform routine maintenance on knowledge articles. Oversee notification of DoIT Teams to make sure their content remains current, relevant, and well-organized for the campus community. Knowledge management includes - information on the IT website and information in the ticket system.

• Support onboarding of new systems, and tools. When new systems are implemented, work with assigned project managers, vendors, and other staff to empower the University community. Support includes workshops in the traditional face-to-face classroom environment, videos, documentation on the DoIT website, webinars, and social media posts.

• Provide support for IT staff who use and contribute to the knowledge base. Coaching includes the evaluation of best practices in writing knowledge articles, and creating articles as part of the workflow to mentor staff and students as necessary. Provide regular feedback on articles to knowledge workers (both students and staff). Provide coaching and feedback to teams and individuals on how to best utilize and contribute to the knowledge base.

• Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission

Special Notes:

This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

SUNY implemented a hybrid telecommuting pilot program. This position has been approved to participate in the pilot, which allows for up to 5 remote days per pay period.
