The AutoNation or ACP Auto Parts, LLC. Dispatcher is responsible for routing deliveries, interacting with drivers (company and/or third-party), assigning routes, maintaining an on-time delivery schedule, using TMS software, handling customer delivery inquiries, and communicating to drivers their duties for the day.  

Who Would I Interact With?

Reports to the Parts Manager or ACP Auto Parts Warehouse Manager / Director.  Interacts with region and corporate management Team members, customers, drivers, salespeople and other store Team members.


What are the day-to-day responsibilities?

  • Execute customer orders from receipt of order through to delivery of product by building loads, assigning drivers and equipment.

  • Assist drivers in checking for damaged parts, returns, cores and with open invoices (invoice to cashier).

  • Monitor driver and vehicle performance while in route through automated tracking software, including route issues and potential Hours of Service constraints.

  • Assist drivers with load, customer, or paperwork issues whenever required, including after or before normal business hours. Ensure shipments depart on time and according to schedule.

  • Update Inside Sales Representatives regarding order status, including any issues that impact order requirements. Update the notes field in the TMS with such issues.

  • Monitor, and address delay times on loads to determine if there were customer issues, driver and/or equipment problems, or other unforeseen circumstances

  • Supervise all drivers and adjust routes as needed for absentee drivers.

  • Constantly monitor the delivery log for day with loaders and parts pullers.

  • Adjust cut off times if needed and notify CSR supervisor about changes.

  • Monitoring the fleet to ensure equipment is clean and maintained regularly.

  • Assist with the completion of accident reporting and investigation.

  • Communicate with direct supervisor regarding overall operation status and performance. Advise supervisor of issues or irregularities impacting the operation or the customer.

  • Answer all operator/driver inquiries/problems in a quick and efficient manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.

       
What are the requirements for this job?

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Two years’ experience as a Dispatcher

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

  • Adhere to all policies and procedures

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Maintain good attendance.

  • Valid in-state driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record
