Finance Manager – GSG Finance Collections Forecasting

The Global Services Group (GSG) provides American Express' renowned brand of customer service to consumers, merchants, and corporations.

The GSG Finance Manager role, a role within the Global Servicing Group Finance Organization will provide comprehensive forecasting for global collections. Global collections is delinquent AR collected and recovered pre and post account write off via internal collectors and outside agencies. This role will partner directly with GSG operations leadership and their teams and will work across the wider organization with frequent exposure to senior leaders. The Finance Manager should be a dynamic individual who can communicate effectively with business and finance partners, support key financial processes, deliver superior analytics, and manage complex tasks in a global organization.

Key responsibilities include

Provide value-add support to business partners with a pro-active approach while owning end-to-end collections forecasting

  • Effectively collaborate across the organization to align multiple assumptions within collections forecast to ensure highest level of accuracy
  • Provide monthly reporting on collections forecasting via multiple communication channels for varying audiences (Email, Power Bi, Excel, etc)
  • Create and own complex financial models to support in-depth collections forecast which captures multiple metrics and measures (Market, Line of Business, Vintage, etc) which enhance reporting, enable analysis, and drive automation
  • Track and analyze internal and external factors and trends while liaising with business partners to develop in-depth forecasting
  • Perform ad hoc analytics as required, leveraging Finance and GSG analytical data
  • Prepare and present insightful analysis and key recommendations to Finance and GSG Senior Leadership to drive decision making
  • Provide thought leadership, project management and specialized analysis to support GSG strategies

Required Qualifications

  • Prior experience owning forecasting process from end-to-end
  • A curious self-starter with the ability to drive results, work with ambiguity, and create insights to explain results variances
  • Strategic thinking - an ability to deep dive into numbers and synthesize complex data while pulling together the bigger picture and key story for an executive/senior audience
  • Ability to grasp and explain complex concepts quickly; strong business acumen, able to follow business and industry trends and make use of this in the main AXP business lines
  • Strong collaboration and relationship building ability. Able to influence others without having direct authority, including demonstrated ability to influence senior management across the company
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables while meeting tight deadlines
  • Robust communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong work ethic with an intense will-to-win and demonstrated personal excellence
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Familiarity with Cornerstone, Tableau, Power BI, Essbase, Oracle ledger and P&L reporting, TM1 tools and SQL coding skills preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant analytical and financial work experience
  • A degree in Finance or similar; MBA a plus

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
