In this high growth role, you will manage and direct defined aspects of the client’s fleet operations located in Los Angeles, CA. You will lead and inspire a team of vehicle technicians tasked with maintaining and repairing a growing fleet of self-driving taxis. You will set and achieve operational objectives, while controlling costs and developing a high-performing team. Above all, you will be responsible for ensuring the team is completing repairs according to our client’s service expectations, while working alongside other AutoNation teammates in a positive, innovative work environment.

What are the day-to-day responsibilities?

  • Establishing work priorities and tracking key performance indicators to measure the success of fleet maintenance operations, while implementing data-driven strategies to continually get better.
  • Building, leading and developing a team of vehicle technicians, including hiring, mentoring, scheduling, and training, as well as offering promotion, discipline, and termination recommendations.
  • Collaborating with client leadership to align on operational goals and strategies, and act as a key liaison between the client and AutoNation. This includes providing recommendations for improving the maintenance and administration of their fleet of self-driving taxis.
  • Ensuring all work orders are closed accurately and in a timely manner while adhering to SOPs and all AutoNation and client company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Maintaining reporting systems required by AutoNation and the client and participating in or leading regular meetings to provide updates on performance.
  • Establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with vocational and technical schools to enhance recruitment activities.
  • Understanding and complying with federal, state, and local regulations that affect fleet maintenance and repair operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know act, EV safety, and so on.

What are the requirements for this job?

  • A minimum of 3 years in vehicle repair at an automotive service center or as a fleet operator.
  • Experience managing a team of 10 or more vehicle technicians, with varying levels of skill and training.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly operational targets.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while juggling competing priorities and tasks.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Comfortable using fleet or dealer management software such as Fleetio or CDK (or equivalent software).

What qualifications are preferred, but not required?

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • ASE certification.
  • Electric or autonomous vehicle maintenance experience.
  • Familiarity with Google suite of office products such as Gmail, chat, and video conferencing.

The expected annual salary for this role is between $74,472.00 - $130,327.00, dependent upon each candidate’s unique experience and qualifications.
